Now, a beer connoisseur (okay, beer apprentice) at nineteen seems a little intense, even a bit alarming. Rest assured, alcoholism is far from a concern. It's simply an active appreciation of the art that is beer, and since I'm using art metaphors, I'd like to introduce you to a masterpiece. If this is not the pride of Spain, it should very damn well be. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Rosita.
Being the typography/packaging nerd that I truly am, I won't lie that I judged this beer by its bottle. How gorgeous is that yellow and green on a brown long neck? Not to mention, that lady on the label is fierce as. From there, I was sold. Not completely, though, I did hesitate handing the barman AU$9 (PHP 370).
I had high hopes. All the good markers were there. The bottle was ice cold and it didn't froth like a badass when the cracked open. I tried to be classy and take a sip out of the bottle but I failed and took a big gulp instead, and boy was I glad I did. Bea and I agree on this. Call us unpatriotic, but Rosita's one of the best and to us, it's better than San Miguel.
Now here's some background information, Rosita's a craft beer from Tarragona (that is, she's not mass-produced), a place in Spain a little further out from Barcelona, brewed by a small brewery from around 2006. I usually am not a fan of blonde beers because they're too fruity and unmanly for my tastes, but the mix of sweet and bitter in Rosita is just spot on magical. It's a little on the sweeter side so it'll be a very good beer to hand out to non-beer drinkers, a great introduction to the wonderful world of beer, if you will. And surprisingly, Rosita handles itself well with either savory or sweet food. I'd say it goes down well with everything, except probably your wallet.
If you can find it, I strongly suggest you buy in bulk, and then send me some on really generous discount. I assure you, it will change your life (too dramatic) and you will be at her grip.
Until the next brew,
Love, your resident beer admirer.
Coco
