Every time, I get up in the morning, I promise myself I'll head into the city---do what I have to do---then head back to bed. But the thing with Melbourne street shops and cafes, they always make you take a second glance. Today, I went for a house inspection along Smith St (one of my favorite areas in Melbourne). After, a little bottle shop I used to always pass stopped me in my tracks.
They were having a vintage market inside the bottle shop. So after acquiring a few lovely pieces and getting a bit of cardio in, my friend and I decided to order a kangaroo burger. I've always thought it would have a really odd and exotic taste because it wasn't always on the menu unlike chicken, beef, or pork. Or there's always the possibility of the meat being tough, chewy, or rubbery.
After my first bite of this kangaroo burger, I was waiting for that odd taste--something that I wouldn't be able to distinguish. But nothing! It tasted just like a beef burger but with an added dash of salt---or maybe more. It definitely had a stronger taste. But eat it with the beetroot and chutney, you have a delicious contrast of sweetness and saltiness.
It made me warm inside until Melbourne's bipolar weather acted up.
*thats my friend coco! she's going to be blogging a lot as well..beer/food/beer
hopefully, lots of beer!
xx Bear
